Rules-based “buy cheap volatility” strategy. When many assets look overheated, it buys UVXY/VIXY (volatility). Otherwise it rides tech/oil; if weakness hits, it hides in QQQ, low‑vol stocks, and short‑term bonds. Uses simple heat (RSI) and trend filters.

Big switch: if the S&P 500 (SPY) is above its 200‑day average, we’re risk‑on; otherwise we go defensive. In risk‑on, if many areas look very “hot” (RSI, a quick 0–100 heat score, is high), we buy volatility via UVXY/VIXY (a bet vol rises from low). If not, we ride TECL (leveraged tech) and UCO (leveraged oil). If trends break or losses mount, we switch to QQQ, SPLV (low‑vol stocks) and BSV (short‑term bonds).

Out-of-sample: ~34.3% annualized return vs SPY 21%; Calmar 2.61; higher drawdown (~13.1% vs 8.9%). It buys cheap volatility in calm markets and rotates to momentum/defense for stronger risk-adjusted upside vs the S&P.
