This portfolio is 100% stocks across three funds, with a deliberate lean toward established, profit-sharing companies. Half the portfolio is the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF (VOO) — the 500 largest US companies, the broad engine of the American economy. Another 30% goes to the Vanguard Dividend Appreciation ETF (VIG), which holds only companies that have raised their dividend every year for at least ten straight years — a filter that tends to select durable, financially disciplined businesses that hold up better when markets get rough. The final 20% is the Vanguard FTSE Emerging Markets ETF (VWO), adding thousands of companies across faster-growing economies like India, Taiwan, and Brazil.
