Adaptive “All Weather” portfolio that shifts among tech‑heavy stocks, bonds (long or short), gold/commodities, cash, and volatility hedges. Uses fear, trend, and “too hot/too cold” signals to lean in during calm uptrends and step aside or hedge in turmoil—aiming to beat the S&P 500 over time.

It’s an “All Weather” portfolio that adapts. It watches three things: market fear (the VIX), whether prices trend up or down (long‑term averages), and when moves get too hot or too cold (short‑term swings).
- Calm, uptrend: lean into growth with leveraged tech funds (TECL/TQQQ/SOXL).
- Shaky or falling: park in T‑bills/short‑term Treasuries (BIL/BSV/SHV/SHY) or hedge with UVXY; sometimes briefly short stocks or long the U.S. dollar (UUP/USDU).
- Bonds: switch among long Treasuries (TMF), inverse Treasuries (TMV), or cash based on rate trends.
- Commodities: rotate into gold/commodities (GLD/DBC) or the dollar when inflation or rates drive returns.

Adaptive all-weather ETF strategy aims for steadier risk-adjusted gains vs the S&P. Out-of-sample results cut drawdown to 15.6% vs SPY’s 18.8%, with a Calmar of 1.17 and positive alpha, delivering ~18% annualized upside with lower beta.
Ray Dalio's All Weather Portfolio is a great design that intends to maintain exposure to various asset classes to profit in any economic environment. A significant flaw, however, is that it is not capable of handling a rising rates environment, due to the heavy bonds exposure. This symphony is an attempt to maintain the "profit in any environment" nature of the AWP and deploys leverage and shorting to beat the S&P 500 over a long enough time horizon. As a bonus, this strategy is entirely K-1 free. This symphony uses components from the Commander BND strategy by HinnomTX, Beta Baller v1 by Deez, and the volatility switch developed by Garen Phillips.
