The Russell 1000 Utilities portfolio provides direct exposure to companies that supply essential services such as electricity, water, and natural gas within the Russell 1000® Index. Using a direct indexing approach, you own the individual stocks in this market segment rather than shares of a fund that tracks them. This gives you a clear view of every position while closely following the performance of large- and mid-cap utility businesses across the United States. These companies often serve as foundational building blocks within a broader investment strategy, given their role in delivering the infrastructure that modern communities depend on.

The Interactive Advisors FTSE Russell Index Tracking Portfolios are designed to follow certain predefined rules so that the portfolio can track a specified basket of underlying investments, which corresponds to the reference index. These portfolios aim to track the performance of the underlying basket (index), and typically represent a form of passive investing. Interactive Advisors constructs and manages these portfolios based on data provided pursuant to licensing agreements with FTSE International Limited ("FTSE") and the Frank Russell Company ("Russell"). The goal of these portfolios is to allow investors to track the performance of certain specified portions of the US Stock market as represented by the reference index.
Capital growth plus with a more complex portfolio or higher risk profile than broad equity markets. Investing in equities and concentrated portfolios and prepared to accept fluctuation in portfolio value.
Sector enthusiasts: If you want dedicated exposure to the utilities sector without selecting individual stocks, this portfolio offers a systematic way to invest across a broad range of U.S. utility companies. Stability seekers: Utilities supply services that remain in demand through all market environments, which can give the sector defensive characteristics. Investors looking for potentially lower volatility may find this portfolio matches their risk appetite. Index-focused investors: If you prefer a passive, index-tracking approach over active stock selection, this portfolio follows the Russell 1000® Utilities Index with consistent quarterly rebalancing to stay true to its benchmark.
Allocation discipline: The portfolio holds long positions in U.S. utility equities selected from the Russell 1000® Index. Allocations follow a structured, index-driven process and are refreshed on a quarterly schedule to maintain alignment with the reference index. Sell discipline: Sell decisions are governed by the quarterly rebalance and reconstitution of the Russell 1000® Utilities Index. When a stock no longer meets the index criteria established by the Frank Russell Company, it is removed from the portfolio during the next scheduled rebalance. This index-driven approach eliminates discretionary judgment from exit decisions, helping the portfolio stay consistently in line with its benchmark.
Direct asset control: You own the individual utility stocks in this portfolio rather than shares of a fund. This means you can see exactly what you hold and know precisely where your money is invested. Essential sector access: Utilities deliver critical services like power, water, and gas that households and businesses count on regardless of economic conditions. This portfolio offers concentrated exposure to a sector often valued for its defensive qualities. Systematic, rules-based precision: The portfolio follows the Russell 1000® Utilities Index and rebalances quarterly based on predefined criteria. This structured approach takes emotion out of the process and keeps your holdings in step with the broader utilities market.
