Each day it looks at yesterday’s change in SOXX, an ETF of major chip stocks (Nvidia, AMD, Intel, etc.). If SOXX rose more than about 2.5% yesterday, it buys SOXS for today (aims to move about −3x chips). Otherwise it buys SOXL (aims about +3x). Hold 100% for the day, then repeat. These 3x funds are very volatile.
Daily switch between SOXL (3x bullish chips) and SOXS (3x bearish) using yesterday’s move in SOXX. If SOXX jumped > ~2.5% yesterday, go SOXS; otherwise go SOXL. Single-sector and highly volatile due to 3x leverage.
Out-of-sample: this semiconductor tactical strategy yields ~50% annualized return with ~0.92 Sharpe, well above SPY's ~13% return and ~0.79 Sharpe. Daily 3x SOXL/SOXS switching targets upside but higher drawdown risk - great for risk-tolerant alpha seekers.
